Meet Emma Blake

Simple Recipes, Real Life, and a Warm Kitchen Welcome.

If you’ve ever stood in the kitchen wondering what’s for dinner while your kids do homework at the table and the dog barks at the mailman—welcome, you’re in good company.

Hi there, I’m Emma Blake—a self-taught home cook, mom of two, and recipe creator living in Austin, Texas. I’m 38 years old and a firm believer that good food doesn’t have to be complicated. I’m here to make everyday meals easier, warmer, and filled with meaning.

From Classroom to Kitchen

Before launching this blog, I worked for years as a school counselor, after studying psychology. But every evening, I found comfort in the kitchen—chopping, stirring, and tasting until the day melted away.

I still remember the night I came home exhausted, opened a half-used box of pasta, and turned it into something nourishing. That was the night I realized this space wasn’t just for cooking—it was for healing.

I grew up in a small town in Oklahoma, in a family where casseroles were sacred and Sunday desserts were never missed. My mom and grandma taught me to cook from the heart, using simple tools and ingredients—but always with love and intention.

My Cooking Style & Kitchen Values

  • Simple but thoughtful: Recipes that look and taste amazing, with less stress.
  • Budget-friendly: I believe good food doesn’t have to be expensive.
  • Flexible: I suggest ingredient swaps that work with what’s in your pantry.
  • Inclusive: I weave in flavors from around the world, like cinnamon from Mexico or herbs from the Mediterranean.

Life Behind the Recipes

I live with my husband Ben and our two kids, Millie (10) and Liam (7)—my everyday inspiration and honest taste-testers. Millie’s my little baker, and Liam insists every dish needs just a little more cheese (he’s not wrong).

My mornings start with coffee and almond butter toast, and I often scribble down ideas in a recipe notebook by the sink. My kitchen is cozy, filled with green plants, and surrounded by cookbooks—some still marked with splatters from past experiments.

On weekends, you’ll find me browsing the local farmer’s market, letting fresh seasonal ingredients shape the week’s menu.
